Terms of use

Version 2 (draft, pending legal review) · last updated July 2026

Who we are, and what you’re agreeing to

canvascode.org is run by CanvasCode, a nonprofit initiative currently in the process of registration in India (Section 8 company). By using this site you agree to these terms and to the privacy notice, which is part of them. These terms form an electronic agreement under India’s Information Technology Act 2000.

What this site does

Children and this site

This website is for adults — the organizations and people around children, never children themselves. Every form and pledge here belongs to an adult. Children join programs only by nomination through an organization that knows them, with a lawful guardian’s documented consent, under the protections in our child-safeguarding commitment.

What you may not do

Consistent with India’s IT Rules 2021, you agree not to submit or transmit content that: belongs to someone else without permission; is defamatory, obscene, or invasive of privacy; is harmful to children in any way; infringes intellectual property; deceives about the origin of a message; impersonates another person; threatens the security of the site or others’ data (no malware, scraping of personal data, or unauthorized access attempts); or violates any law. We remove such content and may involve authorities where children are concerned.

Your submissions

What you submit stays yours. You grant CanvasCode a limited licence to store and use your submissions solely to review them, respond, and run our work. We never sell them, and we never use them to train AI models.

The honest disclaimers

The site is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we make no warranties, and nothing here is professional, legal, or financial advice. To the extent permitted by law, CanvasCode’s liability arising from use of this site is limited to the maximum extent permissible; nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Adults using the site agree to indemnify CanvasCode against claims arising from their own unlawful use. This clause never applies to children.

Changes, termination, and the boring-but-important rest

We may update these terms; material changes are dated above and noted on the updates page. Continued use after a change is acceptance. If any clause is unenforceable, the rest stand. These terms are governed by the laws of India; courts at Hyderabad, Telangana have jurisdiction, without depriving consumers of protections available where they live.
